ABOUT
Wooden Products Handcrafted in the Pacific Northwest
Thanks for stopping by Quantum Meruit Woodworks. I chose the name "Quantum Meruit Woodworks" in 2021 while I was still a practicing attorney. Quantum meruit is a Latin term meaning, "as much as he has deserved." In the law, quantum meruit is claim alleged by the plaintiff seeking to recover from the defendant the reasonable value of the services provided. I chose this name because I want to provide quality, handmade wood products to people for reasonable prices.
Hello
My name is Rance.
I moved to Oregon in 2013 to attend the University of Oregon School of Law. In 2016, I earned a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. After passing the July 2016 Oregon Bar Exam, I joined a small law firm in Corvallis, Oregon, where my practice included real estate law, landlord-tenant law, construction law, business law, and general civil litigation. Although I found practice rewarding, I ultimately decided to leave the field of law to focus on mental health, his family, and my passion for woodworking, after five years of practice.

Like many other people, I began to focus heavily on my hobbies during the shutdowns in 2020. I quickly realized, however, that woodworking had become more than just a hobby--it became a sort of therapy. Now, I hope to make a career out of making things.
