How are shipping costs determined?

Because most of our products are sold online, items in our shop were designed with (relative) ease of shipping in mind.  When possible, items are sent in USPS Flat Rate shipping boxes to minimize costs.  We also ship via UPS upon request (or when necessary).

May products be returned?

Non-customized items purchased from the online shop may be returned for any or no reason if mailed to Quantum Meruit Woodworks within thirty (30) days after receiving your order.  Such items are only eligible for return if they are (1) unused (including unwashed), (2) still in their original wrapping, and (3) free of any damage.  If you wish to make a return, please contact us by email at qmwoodworks@gmail.com and include your order number in the subject line.  Please be aware that you will not receive a refund for shipping costs.  A refund will only be given if you provide proof of mailing within the time frame specified herein, e.g., a copy of a receipt from UPS.  You are responsible for shipping the item(s) back to us safely.  No refund will be given for an item damaged while being shipped from you to us. 

What if the product arrives damaged?

Refunds for damaged or defective products are not governed by the policy specified above.  If your product arrives damaged or defective, please contact us at qmwoodworks@gmail.com within seven (7) days after receipt of your order.  Please include your order number, a written description of the damage or defect, picture(s) of the damage or defect, and a statement whether you prefer in-store credit or a replacement.  Proper documentation may permit us to make a claim with the parcel carrier (i.e., USPS or UPS) if the product arrives damaged or defective.

What if a defect arises sometime during the life of the product?

Wood is not a perfect building material.  Wood expands and contracts based on temperature and humidity.  Depending on the method of construction and finish used (or not used), some products may require regular maintenance.  For example, our cutting boards are finished with a mixture of food grade mineral oil and food grade beeswax.  This cutting board finish is not durable but it is, of course, safe for contact with food.  It must be reapplied regularly to keep the board conditioned.  Failure to properly maintain the cutting board finish could result in excessive wear and tear on the board.

Having said that, if you believe you have discovered a defect that has arisen during the life of the product, please email us at qmwoodworks@gmail.com to discuss the matter.  Please provide a description and pictures so we may assess the situation.

Is my product dishwasher safe?

Your wooden product is not dishwasher safe.  All our products must be washed by hand.

What finish was used on my product?

Unless otherwise specified, your product was finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C - Pure.  The Technical Data Sheet for Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, a PDF of which may be downloaded here, states that the cured finish is safe for contact with food and use on children's toys.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Unfortunately, as of September 28, 2022, we do not ship outside the United States.  We hope to ship internationally in the near future.
